Moving from Dallas to Hollywood, I enrolled at Art Center College of Design. I studied art in Europe and children's book illustration with Uri Schulevitz in New York. I worked in advertising and design and won awards for my paintings. Along the way I taught drawing and painting to children.
I am a long-time member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. I live in Southern California with my sister....and stacks of art paper.

- Studied art in a WW II bunker on the coast of Italy (after the war!)
- Survived a train derailment, and a ship collision

- Designed clothing for a Los Angeles boutique
- Owned a boutique in a circa-1900 log-cabin-former-post-office
- Painted commissioned ceiling murals (involved scaffolding and a chiropractor)
